Blechnum

Blechnum ferns are a genus of around 150-200 species usually evergreen and mainly found in tropical locations, Blechnum ferns are found growing in a large range of habitats such as forest floors, rock crevices, and in trees, There are only a couple of Blechnum ferns which are suitable for the British climate and they are Blechnum spicant and Blechnum chilense, which requires a sheltered spot out of winds and heavy weather. Most Blechnum ferns are herbaceous plants, although in some regions, such as Central America, species of tree ferns can be found which boast stems of up to three metres in height.
