Ornamental Garden Grasses have a variety of uses, those of imposing habit, like pampas grass are splendid as specimen plants. The lower-growing grasses, such as hair grass, provide excellent ground cover. Many grasses can also be used in a mixed border, where their soft curves and vertical lines contrast well with more rounded, broader-leaved plants. Grow grasses that prefer damp soil near a water feature. Once established, grasses need little maintenance. Most prefer full sun and moist but well-drained soil, not too rich in nutrients and feeding is rarely required. They are a wonderful addition in flower arrangements and may be dried for winter decoration.
