The Japanese name of this Acer translates as "the rich coloured fabric of the master." Acer Asahi Zuru, also known as Oridono Nishiki has a completely irregular variegation, each leaf on this tree is different. In spring the variegation is hot pink changing to white and cream for summer, and two-tone red in the autumn. Even the bark is striped and new branches are bright pink. Some leaves of the Spring Pink Variagated Maple will be perfectly half white and half green while others will have splattered dots of white on a green leaf.
