Fargesia angustissima, the Umbrella Bamboo, comes from the Sichuan province of China. When the culms are young they have purple sheaths coverered in a white powder. Fargesia angustissima is a tall, naturally compact, non-invasive choice for a garden, either as a specimen or screening.

Being a clumping Umbrella Bamboo, Fargesia angustissima is ideal for container culture.
