A compact, upright Japenese Maple with cream variegated foliage, sometimes curling into a sickle shape. In spring masses of tiny, red flowers appear with pink markings on the leaves.  In autumn the cream areas of the foliage become a striking magenta colour.

Acer palmatum Butterfly is best grown in partial shade as full sun will scorch the variegated leaves.

An ideal Japanese Maple for the small garden.
