A flowering shrub that will tolerate tough dry conditions yet continue to produce blossom for a long period and with such impact. The flowers of the Cistus purpureus are produced on mass in midsummer and resemble a crushed silk-like material with gentle blotches of maroon surrounding the centre of the petal. Foliage is dark green and provides a bushy background to the summer show of colour.
This sun-loving Rock Rose will enjoy a well drained border or container making it quite a flexible addition to the garden. Ideal for the sea-side garden.
