A compact, evergreen shrub, dense heads of creamy-green flower buds are formed early in autumn and turn a deep red colour within a few weeks. These buds are held all winter providing months of colour. In spring they open to fragrant, pink-white flowers. The pink-white flowers of the Skimmia japonica look dramatic against the silvery-green foliage, edged with cream.

Magic Marlot looks great planted out in containers, requires little maintenance and prefers moist, well-drained soil.
